1 Overview

Evaporative cooling and condensation process involves multiphase flow, accompanied by heat and mass transfer, and its heat transfer mechanism is extremely complex, so it has been a research hotspot at home and abroad. At present, most of the evaporative cooling and condensing equipment that can be seen in China adopt smooth tube heat exchanger, and the fan is set on the top surface, the spray water is from top to bottom, and the air flow is from bottom to top, and the air flow carries more water, which leads to the additional blowing loss of spray water. Moreover, the top of the fan determines that the evaporative cooling equipment can only be arranged in a single layer, so the equipment will occupy more area.

Application of evaporative air cooling in iron and steel works

In metallurgical industry, the cooling of circulating water for blast furnace wall in ironmaking plant is more typical. In most foreign countries, evaporative air cooling is adopted. In Taiwan, evaporative air cooling is adopted in blast furnace cooling water system of ironmaking plant of China Iron and steel company. Because the price of evaporative air cooler in foreign countries is too high and the investment cost of domestic steel industry is considered, so it has not been popularized. Due to its limited production scale, the evaporative air cooling developed by Lanshi has been in short supply in petrochemical industry, so it has not been radiated to metallurgical industry. In order to meet the market demand, Lanshi has set up a manufacturing base in Xiamen - Lanzhou Petroleum Machinery Research Institute Xiamen Mingguang Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which can further provide the metallurgical industry with the international advanced level of evaporative air cooler. The performance has been: Angang New 1 × 3200 m3 blast furnace soft water closed cycle cooling water system, Qingdao Iron and Steel Company 650 m3 The closed circulating cooling water system of blast furnace soft water, the overhaul project of No.2 blast furnace of Tangshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., the No.6 blast furnace project of Liugang iron and Steel Co., Ltd., the soft water closed circulating cooling water system of billet mould in converter steelmaking plant of Liuzhou Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. and the closed circulating cooling water system of 1800m3 blast furnace soft water in Ironmaking Plant of Xiangtan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. Principle and structure of 3 BLT evaporative air cooling

3.1 principle of BLT evaporative air cooling the aluminum alloy plate fin heat exchanger is used in the BLT evaporative air cooler. It is an efficient and energy-saving cooling equipment which integrates water cooling and air cooling, heat and mass transfer processes, and has the advantages of both. 3.2 the structure of BLT evaporative air cooler is shown in Figure 1.

Advantages of 4 BLT evaporative air cooling

(1) The aluminum alloy plate fin heat exchanger used in BLT evaporative air cooler has the advantages of compact structure, high heat transfer efficiency, large heat transfer per unit area, reduced overall equipment, side placed fan, laminated installation and reduced floor area;

(2) the air inlet is placed above the front surface, and the exhaust fan is placed below the rear surface. The spray water and air flow are both up and down in the same direction, so the water carried by the air flow is greatly reduced; 3) the BLT evaporative cooling equipment can be arranged in overlapping combination, which can greatly reduce the floor area;

(4) for the evaporative cooling equipment with overlapping arrangement, the air duct is set at the exhaust outlet to avoid affecting the cooling effect due to mutual inhalation of hot and humid air;

(5) N sets of evaporative cooling and condensing equipment arranged in overlapping combination, each of which is a complete evaporative air cooler. The combination of building blocks can meet different cooling or condensing capacities;

(6) the centralized cooling load regulation system is adopted, and the regulation mode is flexibly determined according to the load and meteorological conditions to achieve the best cooling or condensation effect and the lowest energy consumption of the equipment.

(7) Evaporative air cooling technology is widely used in the closed cycle cooling system of blast furnace pure water (soft water) in iron and steel works, while BLT evaporative air cooling has further application in its continuous casting mold. Note: the design parameters are soft water volume 2100 m3 / h, inlet temperature 45 ℃, outlet temperature 35 ℃. The operation parameters of evaporative air cooling show that the number of fans, power and make-up water volume of evaporative air cooling are the design parameters under the most severe conditions. According to the changes of meteorological conditions, different numbers of fans can be shut down and the way of changing the water supplement amount can adjust the cooling capacity of BLT.
